Lacquering, coloring, red-coating, and metalwork are among the methods employed to decorate and embellish the temples, shrines, and other structures that adorn the Japanese landscape. These traditional skills, which date back more than 1,400 years, provide us with insights regarding how people lived and unchanging, underlying concepts of the Japanese sense of beauty.
